Yesterday took place the second edition of Mapex Day at Hotel W Barcelona. The event was the perfect excuse to share success stories, product news and trends, and to continue creating synergies between the members of the Mapex community.
More than a hundred attendees did not want to miss yesterday the second edition of Mapex Day. On this occasion, and taking advantage of the fact that this year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of our company, the meeting point chosen was the Hotel W Barcelona, one of the places with the best views of the Catalan capital.
During the day, Galletas Gullón, Flex-N-Gate, Alu Caps and Embutidos Monells presented their success stories with Mapex; we unveiled our latest product innovations, and fostered a space for networking and collaboration so that our customers and partners could exchange experiences on digitization and Industry 4.0.
Mapex’s positive impact on our customers’ factories
Galletas Gullón

In this edition, we had the participation of Jose Ignacio Amo, head of Digital Transformation at Galletas Gullón, who spoke about the project to implement the Mapex MES system in this century-old company.
The company chose Mapex more than four years ago, motivated by three main reasons: “Usability of the software and standard solution that evolves with us, Mapex’s total specialization in MES systems, and good references from the food sector”.
The project has so far had two main phases: the first was the pilot, validation and deployment, and the second, sensorization, systems integration and information exploitation. The results obtained are very positive and they already have in mind the implementation of other functionalities.
Flex-N-Gate

Another of the most interesting presentations of the event was given by Inés Bagué, Quality Manager at DAFE Flex-N-Gate, who focused on the project of definition, development and implementation of MapexQM functionalities in the seven plants that the company has in Spain.
Bagué explained how, thanks to the collaboration and joint work between the Flex-N-Gate team and the Mapex team, they have managed to adapt this module to the needs of a company in the automotive sector such as theirs and make the most of the following tools of our MES platform:
- Management of measuring instruments.
- Management of laboratory samples.
- Map of defects.
- Non-conformity management.
- LPA audit management.
- Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Management of the level of operator training (ILUO).
- Analysis of relevant KPIs for the factory and the business.
Alu Caps

The success story presented by Guillem López, Operations Director of Alu Caps, allowed us to see how an SME can also benefit from the implementation of an MES system such as Mapex.
The company has implemented the Production, Quality and Traceability modules and, as a result, has managed to obtain a global vision of the factory, improve decision making, and be much more proactive thanks to data capture and the detection of incidents in real time.
Embutidos Monells

Finally, Alberto Avila closed the morning presentations with the success story of Embutidos Monells.
The meat company has been working with Mapex’s MES solution in the plant for more than 20 years and, for them, the technology-people binomial has been the real driving force behind the good results obtained so far.
Among the benefits highlighted by the company’s Transformation and Digitalization Director, there is no shortage of: greater agility in decision-making; the evolution towards continuous improvement thanks to OEE monitoring and traceability in the different production sections; and the possibility of centralizing all the factory’s data in a single platform.
New MapexBP features and enhancements
During the event, some of the latest features added to the Mapex MES system and modules such as Mapex Lean, which will be available very soon, were also unveiled.
Our partner Lean Transforma joined us in the afternoon Trends session to talk about how we can make the most of MES solutions to advance on the road to continuous improvement. Consultant Jorge Valle remarked the importance of establishing a system that generates challenges in companies, as it is the way to maintain and improve motivation, making people and results grow.
